Dr. David Shenassa, MD
Orthopedic Hand Surgery
Dr. Shenassa is a board certified hand surgeon specializing in sports injuries, trauma and reconstructive surgery of the hand and wrist. He has been in practice in South Florida since 2009.
He joined Sports Medicine Associates of South Florida after completing his Hand, Wrist and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California. At USC, he worked under an expert team of physicians and surgeons directly responsible for the care and treatment of the USC Trojans athletic teams.
Dr. Shenassa grew up in Long Island, New York and attended New York University for his undergraduate studies. After NYU, Dr, Shenassa studied medicine in Haifa, Israel at the Technion Institute of Technology Faculty of Medicine. He returned to New York to complete his surgical residency training at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, an affiliate of the NYU/ Albert Einstein Schools of Medicine.
Dr. Shenassa is also the Chairman of the Board at HCA Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac, FL. In addition to serving on the board of the hospital since 2016, he is also an expert consultant and educator for several medical device companies specializing in the advancement of minimally invasive surgical techniques for hand and upper extremity conditions.
The hand team performs in-office, outpatient and in-hospital procedures and surgeries.
